White see’s blue as MNFC lose unbeaten record
MNFC went down 6-5 last Monday, to an unnamed team. We knew it would be a tough game so we were pleased to once again have the services of Alex.
I believe we were going well, knocking it around, a few hefty challenges appeared to give the game some bad blood (our opposition were a bunch of moaning twats), and then half way through the first half it all went wrong.
White, was penalised for an innocuous challenge (an innocent mistimed tackle) and had to spend 4 minutes ‘cooling down’ in the play-pen area, this was Ironic as White never really breaks a sweat. Spectators said it was a nothing challenge, and as ever Pope dipped his ore in about it (bellend) only making matters worse.
Down to 3 men MNFC did really well, defending like lions, but ended the half 5 goals to 2 down.
In the second half we ‘Regained’ White (yes a hair reference) and were turning the screw trying to fight back into the game. It has to be said Hemsley was an absolute tank, plowing through people and getting the team back on track - he is a cyborg.
We did really well to get the goals back, through Hedge, Pope and White, but it was all too much, seems they just sat back making it really hard to break them down.
All together a good team performance.

The machines have arrived
This is a poem I wrote
“We are living in the 21st century and machines are taking over!! He said
They park our cars and wash our clothes, they visit Mars too as it goes
Machines control our lives, they give us jobs, they cut down trees and patrol the skies.
They give us life and take it too, they give us hope, they tell us what to do
They replace our men, and women as well, one day they will create heaven and maybe hell
I often wonder if someone turned off the power, would we fight to survive or hide and cower?
Imagine how it would affect our lives, without Google to search “how do I survive”

MNFC 22 - 0 The team we played
MNFC are a 4 a side football team, they are unbeaten. This is their first match report.
It wasn’t a good start. Easter and ‘the wedding’ had meant no football was played for a good 3 weeks. The worry was further increased when Alex was unable to play. However, sizing up the team (3 schoolboys and an old man) you could see the dribble creeping out the side of Hemsley’s mouth (at the prospect of an easy win, not because of the school boys).
It was never really a contest, as we outfought and outplayed ‘the team we played’. The tone of the game was set in the opening few minutes with two quick goals from White (when the first went through the keeper we knew it would be easy) having effectively killed the game he spent the remainder of his time dictating play from the centre of the park, his passing ability never in doubt (to the opposition).
Aware that it was our opponents first week (ever) we sat back, not wanting to break their spirit… No, sorry that’s bollocks, we ruthlessly destroyed them. When Gola (7), Jon ‘Ray Parlour’ Pope (4) and Hemsley (8) set about scoring goal after goal without reply. Hedgey was solid, continuing his goal scoring run with 2 (I can’t remember either of them) and Mathew. S. J was clearly bored in goal (although he did enjoy over sensationalising saving a shot that was clearly going over) but who cared, this team was shit.
It has to be said. This team was probably the worst 4 a side team I have ever seen and it was funny to hear some of the lads telling them we had the same issues in our first game (I think we drew 5 all??)
I think the best goal of the game was Gola taking it round their keeper and slotting home!
MOM - Steve (His first 4 a side clean sheet)
Hopefully next week will be more eventful!
The richer getting richer
Recently the British rich list confirmed that the rich are getting richer. And now I hear that the ICANN are going to outline guidelines for companies to register their own top level domains e.g. http://nike
And the price? Around £113,000 plus £15,000 subscription.
All this will do is make the ICANN richer, because global brands will almost feel forced into buying their domain. But also Google’s algo is likely to favour the domains because it’s ‘brand friendly’ and it will be blindingly obvious these domains are the brand name!
This means anybody who can’t afford the extortionate prices will be at a disadvantage, thus meaning the rich will continue to get richer and medium size brands and smaller will be less ‘search’ competitive!
This is my favourite and lesser known quote from the great Muhammad Ali.
“The slum is not in the ghetto, the slum is not in the neighborhood, the slum is in the people, it’s the people that make the slum. If you gave these people a 95 million dollar project they would make a slum out of it in 24 hours. But if you took a group of people who are intelligent you can make a slum a paradise”
Muhammad Ali
He really was, and is the greatest.
Going through my sea of junk emails I noticed this one from Apple, not because I have any interest in buying an iMac but because I thought it was a rather good email marketing piece.
Let’s face it; email marketing is becoming a tougher discipline to master as consumers receive more and more ‘junk mail’. However, Apple appears to be ahead of the curve once again, in terms of cut through, saying ALL the communication needs to say in the subject line “The new iMac now available” and of course next to the brand name. Simple, but very well done!
